Baked Caprese Pizza Bread


Baked Caprese Pizza Bread is easy, delicious and quick to prepare! Melted cheese, sweet cherry tomatoes and fresh basil makes this meal simply irresistible. Tastes great served as an appetizer or lunch!

Here’s what you need to make Baked Caprese Pizza Bread:

  • Baguette or other italian bread – I like to use bake-at-home baguette as it gets crispy outside, but stays soft inside while baked with cheese and tomatoes.
  • Tomato sauce – I always prepare homemade tomato sauce in advance. You can find my super easy recipe here. However, you can also use store-bought tomato sauce if you want to speed up the process.
  • Italian mozzarella – I love this cheese for its light, delicate flavour and creamy texture.
  • Cherry tomatoes – I always have cherry tomatoes at home! They taste great with mozzarella cheese, but if you already have different type of tomatoes, you can use them too.
  • Fresh basil – a great complement to the caprese bread taste.
  • Olive oil or balsamic vinegar – both taste great as topping so choose whichever you prefer.

Baked Caprese Pizza Bread

  • 1 baguette or Italian bread (I used bake-at-home baguette)

  • 6 tbsp tomato sauce

  • 200 g Italian mozzarella, sliced

  • 6 cherry vine tomatoes, halved

  • Topping:
  • fresh basil, chopped

  • olive oil or balsamic vinegar


  • Preheat oven to 2000C. Line baking tray with parchment paper.
  • Cut the bread or baguette in half, lengthwise, into two halves. Spread tomato sauce over each half.
  • Put 4-5 slices of Italian mozzarella on each half, depending on the size of your bread, then put cherry tomatoes between mozzarella slices.
  • Bake bread on a baking tray for about 15 minutes (or until cheese is melted).
  • Remove from the oven. Top with fresh basil and drizzle with olive oil/balsamic vinegar. Enjoy warm.
