Chocolate Porridge with Banana and Salted Caramel

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and this recipe will make sure you start your day right. You won’t be able to resist the delicious chocolate flavour, banana and salted caramel combination. In just seconds you can have a healthy breakfast ready for your family! 🙂

What ingredients do you need to make this chocolate porridge?

  • Milk of your choice – I used almond milk, but any other would work fine as well (including cow’s milk)
  • Oats – I used Scottish-milled oats, but again – use any oats you want. Just remember that thick old-fashioned oats will need more time to soften.
  • Maple syrup – I used maple syrup to sweeten the porridge. You can use sugar or honey as an alternative.
  • Cocoa powder – Cocoa powder will give chocolate flavour to our porridge.
  • Flaxseeds – flaxseeds are totally optional, however I like to add them to my morning porridge as they loaded with nutrients and high in omega-3 fatty acids. Remember that they will make your porridge a little bit sticky while heated,
  • Banana – I sliced 1 ripe banana for my topping.
  • Almond flakes – I toasted almond flakes on a dry pan until golden brown. It is optional step, however I highly recommend you to do this. Toasted almond flakes taste great with banana and salted caramel!
  • Salted caramel sauce – You can use store-bought caramel or make delicious salted caramel at home. You can find my easy recipe here.
