Churros with Nutella Dip

I love churros! I remember my first time in Spain, when I discovered this crispy yummy pastry covered with sugar and cinnamon. It was like heaven for me. Since then I always wanted to make them at home, but somehow never had the courage.

I decided to overcome my fear and try out these super delicious, easy churros with addictive nutella dip. Oh my God they are so good! Crispy and covered with sugar, served with warm nutella dip… What can be better?

Here are some tips to crispy and delicious churros:

  • Stick to two eggs in the batter. I saw recipes that use less or more eggs in the batter, but from my experience two eggs give perfect texture every time.
  • Use large star tip for pipping the dough. It will give churros the most efficient shape and will make them crispy.
  • Cool down the dough before adding eggs. It is very important, otherwise you will cook or scramble your egg in a batter. We don’t want that 😉
  • Batter will separate when you add first egg. That is completely fine. It will come together and smooth when you add second egg.
  • Do not over-fry churros. Fry them on medium-high heat only until golden brown for about 2 minutes on each side.
  • Let the churros drain on a kitchen towel only for a few seconds. Then transfer directly to cinnamon sugar mixture and roll immediately. Otherwise sugar won’t stick to churros.
  • Serve warm with delicious nutella dip and enjoy. You will thank me later 🙂

Churros with Nutella dip is the ultimate crowd pleasing dessert that is easy to make and ready in no time! Crispy, light and delicious churros dipped in homemade nutella dip will make you want more and more!

Prep time

Ingredients

  • Churros:
  • 1 cup (250 ml) water

  • 50 g unsalted butter

  • 2 tbsp granulated sugar

  • pinch of salt

  • 1 cup (140 g) plain flour

  • 2 eggs

  • 500 ml sunflower oil for frying

  • Coating:
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp cinnamon

  • Nutella dip:
  • 3 tbsp nutella (or different chocolate spread)

  • 3 tbsp double cream

  • 2 tbsp milk

Directions

  • Churros: Heat water, butter, salt and sugar in a medium sized pan over medium heat just until mixture comes to a boil. Add flour and combine well with rubber spatula (a few lumps are fine). Turn off the heat. Transfer batter into a clean bowl and cool down for 10 minutes. Add eggs one by one mixing with hand mixer until batter is smooth. Transfer to piping bag with star tip. Heat sunflower oil in a large pan or pot. Carefully pipe mixture into preheated oil, into about 15cm lengths, cut end with clean scissors. Do not overcrowd churros (5-7 churros at a time is fine). Fry about 2 minutes per side until golden brown. Transfer to paper towels to dry about 15 seconds (don’t wait too long as sugar won’t stick). Cover in cinnamon sugar mixture. Repeat with remaining dough.
  • Nutella dip: Put nutella, double cream and milk into a saucepan. Heat over medium heat stirring constantly until melted. Transfer to a small bowl.
  • Serve warm churros dipping in nutella sauce. Enjoy!

Notes

  • Serve churros when still warm for the best taste.
