Sweet Chilli Prawns with Crispy Baguette

Quick and super tasty prawn recipe. Sweet chilli sauce combined with garlic and fresh parsley… what a BIG flavour. Set a timer, your delicious lunch will be ready in 15 minutes! 🙂

Make sure you have all ingredients ready to go…

  • raw king prawns (or frozen, defrosted in the fridge)
  • onion
  • garlic
  • sweet chilli sauce
  • worcestershire sauce
  • broth
  • lemon
  • sugar
  • herbs
  • baguette
  • fresh parsley

I like to use king prawns as they have the richest flavour of all kind of prawns. Prawns should be moist and smell fresh (not fishy!). If you buy raw prawns, remove head and shell before you start cooking.

Course: Lunch, EntreeDifficulty: Easy

Prep time

  • Sweet chilli prawns:
  • 300 g peeled raw king prawns

  • 1/2 onion

  • 1 clove of garlic

  • 1 tbsp vegetable oil

  • 2 tbsp butter

  • 2 tbsp sweet chilli sauce

  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1/4 cup broth

  • 2 tbsp freshly squeezed lemon juice

  • 1/2 tsp granulated sugar

  • 1 tsp oregano, 2 tsp sweet paprika powder

  • Crispy baguette:
  • baguette

  • salted butter

  • Sweet chilli prawns:
  • Defrost and clean prawns if necessary.
  • In a large frying pan, fry the diced onion with oil. Add the pressed garlic and fry for about half a minute on low heat.
  • Add 1 tbsp of butter, sweet chilli sauce, Worcestershire sauce, broth, lemon juice and sugar. Bring to a boil, then add oregano and sweet paprika powder and cook for 2 minutes, stirring with a wooden spoon.
  • Add prawns to the sauce and cook for about 1 minute, season with a pinch of salt and pepper (check if the sauce is not salty enough before adding salt). Turn over and repeat cooking for 1 minute.
  • Add the remaining tbsp of butter, melt and mix with prawns. Sprinkle with chopped parsley and serve with baguette.
  • Crispy baguette:
  • Preheat oven to 2000C.
  • Cut baguette into slices (about 2 cm thick).
  • Butter both sides of baguette and put on baking paper.
  • Place in the preheated oven for about 4-5 minutes until golden brown. Serve immediately with sweet chilli prawns.

  • Use raw, peeled king prawns to save time (you won’t need to defrost or clean them before cooking).
